The HKSCPO is the professional association representing the prosthetists and orthotists in Hong Kong. The society was established in 1995. The society encourages and promotes high standards of professionalism and patient care services in prosthetics and orthotics. The society ensures the professionals have access to educational and professional resources and create a platform to advance the profession for the continuing improvement of prosthetics and orthotics services in Hong Kong. It also regulates the certification and the code of practitioners.
In order to be registered as a full member of the Society, an applicant must have completed a Prosthetics and/or Orthotics education programme of Bachelor Degree level or equivalent, and with one year clinical experience under the supervision of a HKSCPO certified practitioner. The certified practitioners are entitled as CPO (HK), CP (HK) or CO (HK) subject to their area of achievement.
The Society endeavors to maintain a high standard of professionalism, and monitors the delivery of prosthetics and orthotics service at a quality level. This is regulated through the Certification Examination, the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Credits System and the Code of Ethics in the execution of P&O service. All full members are required to attain sufficient CPD credit points within each 3-year period for re-certification. |
